Creation of Financial Mindsets
Hi all. This is Kevin, creator of Financial Mindsets. Welcome. You are reading the first ever post on Financial Mindsets and as such I wanted to elaborate further on the goal of the website - much of what I will write about in this post can also be found in short form on the About page.
After graduating in 2015, I joined a large US based investment bank and went through a rigorous training program before being directed to a desk to work 12+ hour days. I continue to work for the same firm and have chosen a niche practice within the firm that advises companies on their business activities within the energy and infrastructure sector. Despite my ability to talk finance with sophisticated investors and business executives I discovered I lacked the basic knowledge to manage my own finances/wealth. So, over the last few years I have spent relentless hours scouring the internet, reading books and talking with peers about personal finance strategies to figure out the best way to manage my financial future and shape my financial mindset.
My goal of this blog is to provide a springboard for your financial mindset. A lot of the content I aim to create will revolve around guidelines to thinking about where you should aim to be financially and what the changing investment landscape means for your wealth. I hope to share tips, tricks and a set of what I think are constructive guidelines that will help you live a life well spent. Note: a rich life does not just mean I hope to help you get rich, but a full encompassing life of richness (wealth, health and happiness). I will also aim to share mistakes I think I have made and hope you avoid making the same mistakes I have.
What this is NOT. I think talking quickly about what this website is not is just as helpful as discussing what I hope it is. This is not a website catered to only one gender. Too often I find blogs/resources dedicated to and targeting just one gender. I hope to create posts that apply broadly across genders. This is not a website dedicated only to one age group. Again, too often I find websites that cater to just millennials or just middle-age or elderly readers. I aim to create financial tips that can be applied broadly and guild lines that can be implemented no matter what age you happen to be. On the same note, I also aim to create content that reviews financial products that are available to the masses, not just a select age group. Lastly, this is not a website that will preach or push FIRE (financial independence, retire early). I will discuss some of the aims of FIRE-esque financial planning, but I also realize that this is an unrealistic goal for a lot of the American population. My goal here is to help shape healthy financial habits and mindsets and if the end result of these healthy habits results in financial freedom and early retirement - great - if not I hope my posts at least help you establish some form of healthy retirement savings so that you can live comfortably in retirement.
Financial Mindsets has been created with the average reader in mind and with the hope the content here may be found useful on an everyday basis. Again the mission of this website is to 1) help the average person establish a healthy financial mindset and then 2) develop healthy financial habits that lead to wealth creation.
I hope you all enjoy the content I post and I hope you all subscribe to know when I publish new content. I also hope to interact with all of my readers, so feel free to post a comment on the article directly or, if you’re shy like myself, reach out to me directly via one of the linked social media pages found below.
I look forward to helping you all create a healthy financial mindset.
